A recycling Elzybell challenge

Hiya! This weeks' challenge was "recycling" and were to interpret that however we wished. Soooo, my recycled things are the ribbon ~ under the Party Teds it says "making memories" because it was wrapped around a Making Memories Christmas gift I got in 2007! And also the bits of dp you see are from a project I worked on almost 2 mths ago. Those should count, right?! Aren't these Party Teds the sweetest?! Ok, so I say that all the time, but it's true! This is a 4x4 card. I also added the "just for you" sentiment to the inside and colored the stars around it w/ my celery and garden green markers to match the dp. Hope ya likey and check out what the rest of the DT made! Oh, and I may have gotten the hang of my copics ~ am I right that shorter strokes work better than longer ones? The left ted was colored using longer strokes and the right ted was colored using shorter strokes. (different colors, of course) Maybe it's me, but I think right ted is blended better. Ok, I'm rambling! Oh, and I sponged the sky and grass for the Flourishes blog challenge!

Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers regarding my Mawmaw. The service was beautiful, the boys behaved wonderfully and it was nice seeing some family that I hadn't seen in probably 20 years.

Mawmaw has moved on to a better place

My mawmaw (which means "grandma" in southern talk, incase ya didn't know), passed away yesterday morning. She was 86 and in her words, had lived a good life. She had been sick for several weeks. We had gone to visit her when she first when in the hospital a few weeks ago. I'm so glad we got to see her. I wish my boys had been able to know her better, but am grateful that we had been able to visit her more recently. She had 6 children and survived 2 husbands. She was a tough ol' bird, as I like to say. She'd tell it like it was and never held back. I loved her cajun accent (no, I don't have one...) and her gumbo was out of this world! The pic above was taken Christmas Eve 2007 (that's me w/ my oldest son). She helped raise me that first few years of my life since my mom was a rather young mother. I can't imagine her not being around anymore. She's just one of those people who you just felt would be around forever. She was and will always be such an important person in our family. She lost her house in Katrina and was never the same. It's hard when you've had something for over 40 or more years and suddenly it's taken away from you. We'll all miss you so much, Mawmaw!

I'm sure you came here looking for Elzy sneak peeks, but for obvious reasons, I don't have anything for you today. I'll try to work on something later because stamping is therapy for me and boy, could I use some therapy right now. I'm sure the rest of the Elzybelles have lots of goodies for you to drool over, so please go check them out. And after that, go call your mawmaw/grandma/grannie/memaw and tell her how important she's been in your life!!

2nd day of Elzybell sneak peeks!!!

So, whatcha think? Was it worthy of all my hype?! Well, I've been rather mojo -less for a while now, and this card makes me feel like I'm getting in a groove again! I used my own color combo and my own sketch! Usually I'm searching on SCS or through hundreds of blogs til I find something that inspires me. Now, to the important stuff ~ this image! OMWord, how cute, huh?!!! I'm lovin' this Angel Teddy! (duh!) I cut her out and she's up on dimensionals. The image also has a little swirly star thing above her head, but that was way too hard to cut out, so I just left it out altogether. Her wings were colored w/ my gold Koh-I-Noor pencil (thanks, Elizabeth!!!), as are all of the stars on the wings and sentiment. Nice and shimmery! The teddy was watercolored, then I shadowed w/ my caramel SU marker and added highlights w/ a white gel pen. The dp is from a retired SU pack, having a brain fart on the name.
Totally off topic here ~ I just watched the Grey's Anatomy season finale and OMWORD!!! How can they leave us hanging like that! And I sooooo knew that was George! AACCKKKKK!!!
Back to your regularly scheduled programming~~~~~
Now please go check out what the rest of the girls have done!! And, as always, your comments are greatly appreciated!!!

A peek at tomorrow's peek!

Hehe, just thought I'd tease you a peek at my sneak peek for tomorrow!!! Incase ya can't tell, I'm lovin' how this one turned out! G'nite and see ya in the morning!e

Hey, hot stuff, it's the 1st day of Elzybell sneaks!!!

Hey hey, it's time to show off the new Elzybells!! The dt will be sneak peekin' them for the next 4 days, so be sure to stop back and see what goodies we have to show ya!

I just love this sentiment w/ Welder Ted! And the bg layer is not just some cool dp I used ~ I made it w/ another new stamp called "Man's World Multi". It has lots of manly words and phrases on it, ya know, like "remote control" and "baseball cap", hehe! I stamped it repeatedly to make it look like patterned paper. He is stamped on watercolor paper and everything except his helmet was watercolored w/ inks. I used my new silver Koh-I-Nor pencil that we now carry over at Elzybells. I went over it w/ my aquapainter and it still shimmers! See what the rest of the girls have done for ya ~ all links are on the right!!!

Have a good one!

Elzy challenge time!

G'morning, all! This weeks' Elzybell challenge is to make a card w/ more than one fold. I went to the Splitcoast resources area and chose this flap card. The bear and ribbon are not actually attached to the card. The ribbon is adhered to itself, so in order to open the card, you just slide the bear and ribbon off. I also used this weeks' color challenge combo on SCS ~ summer sun, kiwi and only orange. So bright and cheery!!

Also, is anyone else having a hard time when looking at my blog? I was told today that when someone left my blog, that many pages began opening, like w/ a virus. Please let me know! I've had that happen to me when leaving blogs before, but I'm not sure how I could fix it. Maybe start a new blog? Anyway, please go check out all the dt's links on the right ~ I'm sure you'll find LOTS of inspiration!!!!!!!
Have a good one!
