One of a Kind in blues

Here's the card I chose to do for the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS. This week was Laura, known as scrapnextras. I went with a blue theme ~ taken with teal, turquoise and bashful. I colored the flowers with markers, of course. The bottom layer is stamped using the polka dot stamp from Polka Dots and Paisley. The top layer is a piece of Cutie Pie dp with one of the stamps from Always stamped on it in bashful. Ok, sorry for the quickie post, but little man is ready for bed, so I'll catch ya later!

Thanks for stoppin' by!

Regal and Red bloomin' flowers

Hi!! This is my first card using my new Bloomin' Beautiful set from the Occasions Mini and can I just say how much I *love* this set! You're guaranteed to make a beautiful card with any stamp in this set and it is so much fun to color! I used my SU markers for all of the coloring. On the main image, I stamped it onto shimmery white cs (wish you could see the sparkle on this!) and took my real red marker and only colored in some of the darker, more shaded parts of the flowers. Then I went over everything else with my regal rose marker. I went over the areas next to the real red 2 or 3 times so that it blended better. I used summer sun for the flower centers and artichoke and olive for the leaves. I used just a little bit of rust and cocoa on the pot and filled the rest in with caramel. Oh, and I used caramel for the shading under the pot. You know how much I adore faux stitching, but decided to only do a little here and there one this one, except for the longer cocoa panel. On the sentiment, I inked up the bee from this set in red, stamped it off once, then stamped onto the middle of the sentiment. For the Ways to use it challenge, we had to spray or spritz something, so I used my color spritzer to add caramel to the main image and sentiment. And I think that's pretty much all of the details, so I hope you like it!
Thanks for stopping by!

A regal true friend thank you and challenge

First, I apologize for not posting in so long. Been trying to find that crazy little thing called *mojo* for a while now! That being said, here's a card I actually like that I did for today's sketch challenge on SCS. I colored the flower w/ markers and added an extra layer to the top part with a pop dot for dimension. I really like the look of the Stitched bg stamp! I keep reaching for it! I added lots of faux stitching and brads to finish it off.

And because I'm SO liking this color combo, I challenge YOU to make something using these colors: regal rose, mellow moss and apricot appeal! Have fun with it and link back here if you like, so I can check out what you've done!

Happy Stampin'!

Aaaaaaacckkkkkk!!!

Look what I did!!! Check out my *new* blog banner that I MADE MYSELF!!! I downloaded this freebie that Emily (emilymomto3boys on SCS) wrote about on her blog. Then, while blog browsing earlier, I came across Debbie Olson's blog and got the motivation to try to make my own and VOILA!!! I *loooooooove* it!! And given that it took me a while to do, I'm not changing that baby for a looong time! Please tell me what ya think about it! OH!!! And scroll down a few posts to try to win some blog candy *wink*!!!

Happy Stampin'!

Back to basics

Today's limited challenge was to bring us back to basics. That meant no tools other than your basic paper cutting tool, scissors, sponges and any embellishment that didn't require a special tool. It was tough because you know me and piercing! So, I did all those little dots with a marker ~ thought I was going to go cross eyed! Lots of sponging on all the layers and cut out some extra layers for the middle of the flower. I admit, sometimes it's nice to go back to basics ~ less fuss, less mess.

I'm hoping to work on some projects this weekend that I've wanted to for a couple of weeks now. Looks like it's gonna be a hot one in Houston this weekend!! Now, if only I could see the ocean, I'd be good to go ~ could so use some *beach therapy* right about now. Anywho, hope y'all have a wonderful weekend! Edited to add ~ I used Beate's weekend sketch #39 for this card. Check out her blog listed on the right margin --->

card info: stamps ~ fab flowers, stitched bg, lots of thought SAB set. paper ~ guava, caramel, vanilla, choc. ink ~ red, choc, cocoa, guava. access. ~ ribbon, markers, sponge.

Just a quick edit ~

ok, obviously it's very late! In the card info below I said it was the set Time Well Spent, wrong! I used Doodle That for the flower, the sentiment is from Time Well Spent. Ok, off to bed for me!!!

Time with Friends

Yay, finally I card I feel is worthy of posting! Can't seem to get my mojo to stay around ~ it just comes and goes as it pleases with no warning! Ok, so here's a card I did for today's Ways to Use it challenge on SCS. We had to use designer paper (dp) for our main images and sentiments. I'm really liking this color combo for spring ~ apricot, wasabi and cameo. The cameo layer was stamped with the Stitched bg stamp (awesome!) in white craft ink. I got the idea for the flowers in the Doodle That set from Chat (her blog is linked on the right). They were stamped on dp from the level 1 hostess set, as was the sentiment panel. The wasabi dp is also from that pack. And yes, that's wasabi ribbon, my camera just didn't like it tonight, I suppose. I also pierced around the sentiment panel and faux stitched along the wasabi layer. OH, and I colored in parts of the sentiment with SU markers, just for an added touch.

So, did y'all try out the "surprise me" color combos from that color site? What'd ya think? Pretty fun, huh? Also, don't forget about trying out for some blog candy on the post below ~ I'll be picking a winner Sunday night. As always, thanks for stopping by!

A surprise color combo, a challenge for you and blog candy!

Hi all! So how was it for you waking up and it still being so dark thanks to the spring forward time change?! Yuck. One of my boys was asking what time it was because he just knew mom had woken him up too early! Ok, on to the good stuff!! Judy threw a little curve ball at us for our RCAK challenge this weekend. We had to go here -> http://www.scraptitude.com/colorcombo/ and click on *surprise me* and use whatever color combo came up! So here's the combo I ended up with and the card I made using it:

The colors are orchid opulence, not quite navy, pomegranate and white. So MY challenge to YOU is to make a card using this combo!!! I know not many like orchid (I'm one of them!), but with the right colors, it's actually pretty cool!

Just leave a comment with the link to your card or just let me know that you posted one, so I can check it out! For my card, I used the One of a Kind set with the matching Boho punch. So fun! The layout was cased from this week's Featured Stamper on SCS, parisotremba.

Now, that blog candy I promised what, a week ago?? Here 'tis!

What is it? Well, some glitter brads, cute little acrylic stamp set, a whole roll of sheer polka dot ribbon and yes, the flowers are included! Just leave any ol' comment here and I'll randomly pick a number Sunday at 9pm cst.

So have fun with the color challenge and thanks for stoppin' by!

A cool color challenge

Today's color challenge on SCS is wild wasabi, so saffron and pomegranate ~ how fun! I am *so* doing another card with this combo... later, of course, when I can find time in between errands and cleaning!
I used some *new* goodies on this one ~ silver hardware from the new Occassions Mini, the boho blossoms punch, the One of a Kind set and the level 1 hostess wasabi prints designer paper. The flower pots are from the Blooming with Love set. It's an outline image, so I just stamped it directly onto the dp and cut it out. I used my cropodile for the eyelet flower centers. The sentiment also has one of the little flowers from the One of a Kind set stamped in the middle of it in saffron. I think this card is so fun ~ can you tell I'm thrilled with how this turned out?! I used basic grey with this, also and think it works well together.
Ok, off to do domestic things...
Thanks for stoppin' by!
