MFTWSC270 - Balloon Bear

Hi all!  Here's my card for the MFTWSC270 sketch.  I masked the balloon from the Birthday Bears set, several times, ha!, and colored them in various colors with Copics.  I used the traditional tag STAX to partially cut out the balloons, then used the out of the box technique to cut out the top part.  I also colored the bear with Copics, adding pointillism for shading, then fussy cut him.  The sentiment is embossed with white EP.  I added a few clear sequins from Butterfly Reflections Ink add a little extra detail.

Party Animal

Hi all!  Here's a fun card I made using a few TAWS sets - Big Time, Flap Happy and a slightly older set called Express Yourself. I embossed the word 'Party' then used the out of the box technique and cut it across the top.  I really like how it turned out and need to use this technique more.  *side note: I don't know what's up with my embossing - is it the ink or the powder?  It didn't come out very well and I used an embossing buddy to help with the stray powder but still have issues.  Think I'll head to my LSS for different powder and maybe a different white pigment ink pad... Ok, just had to vent, lol!  I colored one of the birds from Flap Happy with Copics, then fussy cut him.  He looks like he's already partied too hard and needs some sleep, ha!

Be yourself...

Hi all!  Here's a 'wonky' card I made using the FREE when you spend $40 TAWS stamp set called Unique Peek.  I was inspired by the sentiment that is also in the set to color my flower a bit 'wonky'.  BUT, I didn't stop there!  I threw in some blue die-cut leaves, an angled layer and an embossed card base because why not!  :D

TAWS Sneak Peek - Have a Super day!

Hi all!  I'm SO excited to show you my sneak peek card today featuring the TAWS set called Happy Hero!  There are several images and sentiments so you can create your OWN super hero!!!  WHAT?!?  I know, right?!! We looove all of the Marvel characters in my house and who doesn't love Captain America??  I decided to make my penguin Captain America, even added some glossy accents to his shield.  Everything was colored with Copics, then fussy cut.  I added the star background with an MFT stencil and some modeling paste, then sprinkled silver glitter over them before they dried.  I love that the sentiment covers a few different occasions.

Life is too short...

Hi all!  Yay for Friday!  I wanted to share this card I made using the newly released TAWS set called Slurp.  It's super fun with awesome images and how true is this sentiment???  ;)  I colored the image with Copics then fussy cut it.  The sentiment is embossed with white EP.  So I hope y'all aren't tired of seeing watercoloring!  It is EVERYWHERE these days and if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend that you do!  It is SO FUN and there is NO wrong way and you get different results almost every time.  This time I took 4 different distress ink pads and stamped them directly onto my craft mat, leaving a little space in between colors.  Then I spritzed them with water, being careful to not have them blend too much (leaving the space between them helps with this).  Then I took smooth white card stock (nope, NOT watercolor paper!) and smooshed it onto the inky spots.  I carefully pressed around the back of the card stock which helps the ink/water to spread.  Lifted the card stock and voila!  A little blast with your heat gun and done!  I decided to break up the panel so I took an element from Blueprints 9 and cut out strips. After that, I adhered them to a layer of pool party card stock.  A little silver cording and a few gumdrops finish up the details.

Groovy, baby!

Hi all!  Here's a card I made using the newly released TAWS sets - Feeling Groovy and Far Out which is the FREE when you spend $40 set for this month!  I love how the guy from the Feeling Groovy set goes with the girl from Far Out.  I colored her dress and his shirt and bandana so that they looked tie-dyed.  :)  I used dp and card stock that had a 70's feel.  This couple totally reminds me of my mom and stepdad.  The sentiment is embossed with white EP.  The sketch is from the SSSC263.

You're Special

Hi all!  Here's a CAS card using the TAWS Hard Boiled stamp set.  I adore these chicks and their expressions :)  I colored them and the nest with Copics, then fussy cut everything.  The dp is from the Lawn Fawn Beachside paper pad.  See the twine I added?  Little secret - It's covering up a little ink mistake, hehe!

Watercolored teepee

Hi all!  I'm here with a CAS card I made using the TAWS Wigwam set.  I had practiced watercoloring with some distress markers and decided it would make a pretty cool looking teepee!  Stamped right over the watercoloring and fussy cut it.  The 'grass' was leftover from a previous project.  I made a couple of signs out of the sentiment.

You're Special

Hi all!  Here's a CAS card I made using the newly released TAWS set, Hard Boiled.  I decided I wanted to create a window, so I used an MFT STAX die-namics that would also leave a decorative edge on the outside of my window (love these!).  I stamped the grass from the set several time in a row, then colored with Copics.  I adhered the strip on the inside of the frame.  I then tucked the chicken and her special egg just inside the window.  To make sure the chick doesn't go anywhere, I made sure her rump overlapped the window edge, then adhered it there with Mono Multi glue.  The dots on the blue egg are from a stamp that's in the set that I inked up with two different blue inks.  The card base is MFT Primitive White, which isn't a crisp white and has lots of flecks in it.

Here's another view...

And a close up...

Coffee solves everything

Hi all!  I decided to make a card for the Coffee Lover's Spring Blog Hop going on NOW!  And while I was at it, I decided to use the current MFT sketch and color challenges, as well.  Why not, right?!  ;)  I colored this cute a la mode stamp I've had for a while and then used one of the awesomely perfect sentiments from the Clearly Sentimental about Coffee set.  I used my pierced Fishtail Flag STAX for the banners on the sketch.  I stamped them with 3 different background stamps - woodgrain, pinstripe and fine check.  I also used an element from Blueprints 13 to cut out the larger kraft layer ( I use this one A LOT!!) and a new fave, the Inside & Out diagonal stitched rectangle STAX for the smooth white layer.  The card base is grapesicle.

Hi all!  We're having a special Feature Day post over on the YNS Blog using two JUST RELEASED stamp sets!  Yes, they are available NOW ~ YAY!  And look ~ you can win a YNS stamp set of your choice:

For my card, I used Little Darling Katlyn.  This is such a sweet little set that also includes a bunny, some hearts and several sentiments.  Love!  I colored her with Copics then fussy cut her.  To get the stitched lines in the yellow dp, I used the Stitched Line Die.  The happy die cut is from the Scripty Words die set, then I used one of the sentiments from the set and only inked up "Easter" to complete my sentiment for this card.  I've been going gumdrop crazy lately!  Here, I used green apple, ivory and sparkly pink gumdrops.

Sugar Pea Designs Birthday Bash - Let's Fiesta!

Hi all!  I'm SO thrilled to be joining Wendy, her team and a long list of talented designers to help celebrate Sugar Pea Designs 1st Birthday!!!  And what set is more appropriate than SPD's Let's Fiesta!  I cannot tell you how fun this happy dude is to color!  I knew I wanted to use the True Friend paper pad with him, so I colored him with my Copics so that he matched.  How do you like his arm and leg hair (lol, sorry, couldn't resist - you can't have a mustache like that and NOT have arm hair!)?  I also like the subtle woodgrain on his guitar.  ;)  I then fussy cut him and adhered him with foam adhesive.  The sentiment is embossed with clear ep and my tropical teal hybrid ink.  A couple of the YNS pumpkin gumdrops (and a blue one from MME), add the finishing touch!

And what's a party without prizes?!  One lucky person who comments on ALL of the participating blogs will win this---->

SAY WHAT?!?!  Yes, a $100 Gift Certificate to the Sugar Pea Designs store!  BUT that's not all!  If you play along with us and link up your card on the SPD Blog (to the appropriate post), you could also win a $25 gift certificate!!!  You can also use code BDAY01 and get 10% off your order through 24 January!  Doesn't get any better than that!

Happy Holidays

Hi all!  Here's a pretty CAS (Clean And Simple) card I made for the Color Throwdown Challenge 316 and SSSC243 sketch.  I colored this cutie from the Waddles - Snow Fun! set with my Copics then fussy-cut him.  I created the shimmery blue background behind him by stamping nightshift blue and Blu Raspberry inks on my craft mat, spritzing the ink with water then smoooooshing my watercolor paper.  Once it was dried, I spritzed it with some blue shimmer spray and voila.  The sentiment is one from the Winter Home set.

Have a lovely day

Hi all!  Here's a card I made for the CTD313.  I just bought this Paper Smooches Blossoming Buds set and love it just as much as I thought I would.  I stamped it on watercolor paper and embossed it with black EP.  I used lemon drop, orange fizz, grape jelly and jellybean green inks, which I stamped directly onto my acrylic block then used my aqua painter to pick up the color and fill in the image.  I then fussy cut it and adhered it over these die-namics: dizzy doily, Blueprints 3, and Blueprints 12.  The card base is grout gray, one of my favorite neutrals!
