MFT Teaser Time - Day 3

Hi all!  Welcome to MFT Teaser Time Day 3!  Today, we are featuring Complementary Greetings and Clearly Sentimental about Art.  For my first card, I've used one of the super cool sentiments from Complementary Greetings.  As soon as this card started taking a masculine turn, I knew I'd use it as my oldest son's birthday card because every teenage boy needs to know how amazing they are.   {He'll be 15 on Sunday - what tha?!?!  when did THAT happen?!?!}  I think it has a crisp modern feel and hopefully he won't mind the little plaid button and thread. ;)  The sketch is from the MFT guest designer challenge, which you can find out about HERE, except that I flipped it.  The stars are a combo of the Stacking Stars die-namics and the new Star Stax.  The sentiment was stamped in basic grey ink and cut out with one of the Traditional Tags Stax.  I used the negative from the Notched Border die-namic to add interest.  I also used the Notched Border die-namic to cut out some corrugated paper for the vertical strips.

Here's a detail shot...  the dp is a mix of a few different companies.

And another detail shot...

And the inside...

For my second card, I used the Clearly Sentimental about Art.  I cut it out using one of the Designer Labels 2 STAX, then used that same label to cut out more of the same dp.

MFT Teaser Time - Day 2

Hi all!  Welcome back for Day 2 of MFT Teasers!!!  We are featuring the Inspired by Travel set and Fred Bear and the Pinwheel.  My 5x5 card features everyone's favorite bear, Fred.  I love his sweet face!  I colored him with copics and fussy cut him then layered him on one of the Designer Labels 2 STAX.  I stamped the pinwheel a second time, colored it exactly like the first one and added a brad to the center so that it really does spin!!  I made "buttons" using two of the dies from the Fishtail Banner die-namics and two tiny brads.  The strips were made using the new Traditional Tags STAX.  I made them longer by only running them halfway through my die cutting machine then just cut a straight line matching up to the die-namic.  The bottom layer is dressed up using the Notched Border die-namic on one side and its negative on the other.  Lots of faux stitching and some twill finish it up.

A close up of the pinwheel.  I cut along the lines of each petal and pushed them forward for more dimension.

Here's a pic of the inside.  I used the Notched Border die-namic again and one of the smaller Designer Labels 2 STAX then stamped Fred's cute face again.

Hi all!  Time for another MFT sketch!  And here it is...

I decided to use this sweet PI Blowing Bubbles.  Her shirt was paper pieced and everything else was colored with copics.  I added a little copic grass and some blue highlights around her.  The sentiment was cut out with one of the Mini Tabs Foursome die-namics.  I used both Circle Stax 1 and 2 for the semi circle layer behind her.  The smallest of the Mini Rolled Roses with a blue bling center adds a little something to the seam binding.  The scallop ribbon border dresses up the bottom of the embossed espresso layer.

And a detail shot...  you can see that I left the bottom of her shirt "free" for more dimension.

MFT Teaser Time - Day 1

Hi all!  Wahoo, it's MFT Teaser Time!!!  Brace yourselves for 7 days of O.M.Goodness moments because this release is AMAZING {but who didn't know that?!!!}!!!  First up is the Who's that Girl/Guy set, Godspeed.  I have to say that I truly love this set, having served in the military myself (AIR FORCE!) , plus my hubby has been in the AF 19 years, my brother was in the Army, a cousin was in the Coast Guard, my BIL is in the Air Force (hubby recruited him!), and a couple of uncles were in the Navy.  So yea, this set is pretty awesome in my book!  There are two images in this set.  I decided to use the Guy image.  The uniform is more of an Army one, so I stamped his left arm again, omitting the patches.  I added my own Air Force stripes then pieced the new sleeve over the other one and voila - Air Force Guy!!!  I used the new Star Stax to add extra dimension to the dp.  Lots of faux stitching and a sentiment banner using the Fishtail Flags Stax finish it up.  I kept it on the cleaner side because I'm sure we'll be needing to give this to one of hubby's coworkers {or maybe I'll need to give it to him!} sooner than later.

More Star Stax and another sentiment from the set inside...

And, because I couldn't help myself, I made a second card!  It's fairly CAS, if you call using 22 brads CAS!  I broke up another sentiment from the set {there are SEVERAL!} and stamped it onto the Traditional Tags Stax to make a banner using some twine.  These Traditional Tags Stax have a thicker border, so I trimmed off the embossed edge to make the border thinner.  The tiny stars are from the smallest Star Stax die-namics.  I love that cool Notched Border die-namic!  And yea, there was just a little piercing involved on this one, hehe!

Here's a peek at the inside...  These are the largest two Traditional Tags Stax!  Yep, just add those to your must-have list!!!  Yet another sentiment from this set and more piercing finish the inside.  This card will be perfect to slip in hubby's luggage before he leaves for one of his trips.  I'm cool like that.  ;)

TS Monday - Summertime

Hi all!  Happy Memorial Day!  Thank you to all of those who have sacrificed their lives, especially my brother,  so that we may have our freedom.

Moving on so that I don't get emotional...  here's my card for this week's challenge - Summertime!!!  For me, summertime isn't complete without at least one road trip, so I knew this Stella would work perfectly!  I paper pieced her car and colored everything else with copics.  A little sentiment flag, bling clusters and some seam binding finish it up.

Thanks for stopping by!  Swing by the Totally Stampalicious store to check out ALL of their super CUTE and FUNNY stamps!!!

Washi tape dp tutorial

Hi all!  Remember when I mentioned I'd be posting a tutorial on how I made the striped dp on my Gus Mantastic card that you can see HERE?  Well, here ya go!  This was SO EASY that I hesitate to call it a tutorial!  I bought this paper tape, aka washi tape, at Target in the office supply section.  They come in a pack of 4 rolls (different designs but same color scheme) for $4.  I hadn't used it before but was curious because it's become so popular.  All I did was take a piece of plain white cardstock and started lining up the tape.  Now because it's PAPER tape, you can reposition it and it won't tear the paper!  It took me minutes to line up the lines {my sporadic OCD kicked in!}.  Here's how it looked when I started...

And here's how it looked when I was done covering the paper.  You can either cut off the excess but I chose to just wrap around the other side of the cardstock.

And here's another pic of the finished card.  Yes, I used a corner rounder on my "washi dp" and it worked just fine!

I hope I've inspired you to try paper tape!  Thanks for stopping by!

MFTWSC73

Hi all!  Time for another awesome MFT sketch!  And here it is...

I wrangled up this PI Cowboy because he hadn't seen ink yet!  He's totally colored with copics except for his bandana, which was paper pieced.  I used the star from the matching die-namics (which I'm not able to locate on their site at this time) to this cutie and some rope-like string for lassos.  The mini ticket strip border die-namic was layered behind the wood board dp.  The sentiment, from this set, was cut out with the mini tabs foursome die-namics {*cough* must-have *cough* just sayin'...}.

Thanks for stopping by!!
