Coffee Lover's Spring Blog Hop!

Hi all!  It's time for the Coffee Lover's Spring Blog Hop!  You can read and join in on the fun HERE. I've created this card with the SugarPea Designs Caffeine Addict stamp set.  SugarPea is one of the super sponsors so check out that post HERE.  I paper pieced this sweet little cuppa using the Posh paper pack (so gorgeous!).  The glitter strip is actually a piece of washi tape.  A few little YNS Gumdrops add the finishing details.

Be SURE to play along with the Coffee Lover's Spring Blog Hop because there are LOTS of PRIZESSSSS!

Par-tea On

Hi all! I went for shades of teal with my latest TAWS card using the new Swee-Tea stamp set.  The cup was paper pieced then fussy cut.  I used a white gel pen to color in parts of the cup and a W3 Copic for shading.  The sketch is from the SSSC299.

Hi all!  Here's a sweet little card I made using the TAWS sets Rain or Shine and From Us.  I paper pieced the clouds and popped them up over a leftover piece from a Reverse Confetti die that I sponged to look more like the sun.  I used a stencil and some embossing paste for the stars.  The sketch is the CTS149.

Hi all!  Welcome to TAWS Sneak Peek Day 3!  I sure hope you've been hopping along the past two days checking out the sneak peeks because well, can you say CUTENESS??!!!  Today we are featuring the new set called Waddle Pals!  Talk about a super cute penguin set - love it!!!  I colored up one of the penguins and colored him with Copics then added a paper pieced hat.  Of course, I had to place him on a chunk of ice from the FREE when you spend $40 set called Chilly.  :D  I sponged the background and embossed the sentiment on a pierced fishtail flag STAX.  A few buttons and some silver and white twine finish it up.

YNS Feature Day - Spring!

Hi all!  Today is our Feature Day blog post and this time it's all about Spring!!!  I'm looking forward to warmer weather for sure!

For my card, I've used Little Darling Katlyn again.  She's just SO cute and apparently I can't help but cut her out with circle dies!  Lol!  I paper pieced her dress and colored the rest of her with Copics.  I've also used the Spring Grass Die - love this grass die!  A few blue raspberry gumdrops add that little extra something.

Hopefully you can see in this pic that her head, arms and the white collar of her dress were cut out and adhered over the paper pieced dress.  It gives a better realistic dimensional feel to the image.  The DP is from the Lawn Fawn Beachside paper pad.

Thanks for stopping by!  Head over to the YNS Blog for your chance to WIN!

Hi all!  I sure hope y'all enjoyed this month's YNS new release blog hop!  Lots of gorgeousness!  How about our new website, huh?!  So prettttyyyyy!!!  Go HERE to check it out!  And we're back today with more eye candy for ya using the newly released goodies!  My card features the Waddles - Snow Fun set and dies.  Hehe, love them!  I paper pieced the ornaments and added glossy accents to them and also his beak.  I love using non-traditional designer papers and colors for Christmas cards.  ;)  The sketch is from the monthly Dirty Girl theme on SCS. I colored the twine with a matching Copic and added some new blue sapphire glittered gumdrops (yep, those are a pretty navy blue, not black) and pink lemonade glittered gumdrops!  I just love the new sizes!  And did I mention they're GLITTERED!?!?!!

Your Next Stamp - October New Release Blog Hop!

Hi all!!!  Happy Sunday and Welcome to the YNS October Release Blog Hop!  Whoop! Whoop!!!

I am SO excited for this release!!!  LOTS of FUN new sets and Gumdrops!  I have so many favorites, one of which is the set that I'm featuring today, Winter Home.  B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!  Such a sweet little scene with fabulous sentiments!  What more do you need?!!!  I've made two very different cards using this set, so let's get started.

For my first card, I paper pieced every. single. element. of this image.  It took a bit of time, but oh, how I love the end result!  I used Copics to add shading, to create the sky (how do you like the 'smoke' out of the chimney?  hehe!  I just used my colorless blender to create it!) and also to color in the warm glow in the windows.  All of the snow, yes, ALL of it, was Stickled then cut out and adhered where needed per the image.  The sentiment is also from this set.  Told you it included fabulous sentiments!

Now, for the second card...  I've been wanting to make a card without coloring the main image.  I've seen that technique around blog land and decided to give it a go!  I used 7 different DP sheets (all from one pack) for this card!  The scallop opening was created using the larger die from the Open Scallop Die Set.  A few other dies, a button and some twine, along with silver glittered gumdrops add extra interest.  Oh, and of course, the sentiment is from this set ;)

Here's a little bit more info for ya - 5 random winners will receive $20 to spend in the YNS store!  Prizes are randomly placed amongst all the blogs so the more you comment, the better chance you have to WIN!!!  And check THIS OUT ~ ~ ~

Alright, I won't keep you any longer!  Enjoy the rest of the hop - check it out that line up!!!!

Nothing but blue skies ahead

Hi all!  Here's a card I made for two challenges over on Splitcoaststampers!  Today's technique challenge (by my old stamping friend, Judy!) was scoring (hence the criss-crossing trio of scores lines) and the CAS (Clean And Simple) challenge was "a day at the beach".  There are lots of things that just scream 'beach!' and I think palm trees is one of them.  I love, LOVE the beach!!!  I paper pieced the entire palm tree from an old There She Goes set (by Torico, who now designs for MFT).  The sentiment is from the Blue Skies Ahead set, which I stamped in kraft ink and cut out with the pierced circle from Blueprints 3.  The card base is Blu Raspberry.

TS Monday - Paper Piecing

Hi all!  I hope you're enjoying your Monday!  This week at Totally Stampalicious, we are challenging you to use paper piecing on your creation.  For my card I used the recently released Johnny Skateboard.  I paper pieced his jacket, shirt and jeans and used copics for everything else.  The sketch is the latest from the SCS Dirty Dozen theme (which you have to be a member of to view - SO worth the membership!).  I used a few MFT die-namics and added some piercing to the sentiment for added detail.

Close up of the paper piecing...

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget, Totally Stampalicious is still having a HUGE BLOWOUT SALE!!!  ALL stamps are only $5!!!  Sounds like a great time to go shopping!!  ;)

TS Monday - Birthday Girl!

Hi all!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend!  I am personally cherishing my weekends more than ever before now that I'm working 8-5 again. ;)
Our challenge this week is for you to create a Birthday Girl card or project.  Who couldn't use more of these in their stash?!  I had to use this sweetie from the Sweet Birthday Kids set.  I love this set because it has a boy and a girl with two sentiments - all your kiddie birthday card needs in one set!  Gotta love that!  I paper pieced the balloons but the rest of her was colored with copics.  I cut out the sentiment with one of my die-namics.  I also added a Fishtail Flag Stax.  The orange polka dots strips were cut out with my small scallop border die-namics.  A little bling and some ivory jute from the Ribbon Carousel finish off the details.  The sketch is the MFTWSC89.

Here's a close up of the balloons...  I added glossy accents to make them *shine*.

And a peek at the inside.  I inked up only the balloons with some versamagic ink.

Be sure to check out the new releases over at Totally Stampalicious!!!  LOTS of fun stuff!!!

TS Monday - Sports and dotted technique tutorial!

***You can view my CAS guest designer card HERE***

Hi all and happy Monday!  This week over on the Totally Stampalicious blog, we are challenging you to make a sports themed card or project.  For my card, I've used one of the images from the A+ Bears set.  Yep, I used that "dotted" technique again and that tutorial I've been promising is below - but please bear (ha, pun not intended!) with my Instagram pics!  I did not have my camera handy and didn't want to wait to make the tutorial on a later date.  Some die-namics, brads and piercing are all the details this card needed.  The sketch is from the DTGD12Blondie090277 challenge on SCS.

Now for the tutorial:

I like to do one section at a time, so I started with his head.  I use the lightest, or in this case, the second to lightest color(E33) that I plan to work with and start a "base".

Next, I take the next darkest color(E25) and add it where I want more shadows.  It's always best to know which direction your "light source" is coming from!  As you can see, I hardly added any of this color on the right side of his face because, for me, that's where my "light source" was hitting him.

Then I add an even darker color(E37).  I try to stay light handed so that my dots don't look like big blotches.

And yet, an even darker color(E29)!

Finally, I go back with the first color I started with and start filling in still using a dot motion (not brush strokes).  For this one, I went with an even lighter color (E31) to fill any spots that were left.  I just keep dotting away until I'm happy with the shading.

And here he is all done before I added to my card...

I hope you found my tutorial easy and inspiring enough to give this technique a try!  It's fun to color using different techniques!

Have a fabulous week!!!
